Mr Hues is 44, has been making erotica for about 4 years and loves his work, living and painting in Dorset on the south coast of the UK. Working from photographs he takes himself, he makes paintings of the remarkable women in his life. The work is a direct response to his experiences. The images are not contrived for spectacle or outrage they are just the artist being himself, loving and fulfilling his purpose.
Starting out his artistic career in graphic design, Mr Hues later began to express his creativity through fantasy work taken from the comic books of his youth, and then the skyscapes inspired by the Dorset coastline. Progressing from figurative art Mr Hues found himself drawn to erotica. These works of art are love affairs in paint and graphite, expressing an artistic vision that knows only truth and beauty. The artwork you see here moves from the traditional territory of erotica through to the new popularist culture of pornography. It provokes reaction in a world where the borders of personal privacy and exploitation of women are confused. There is no doubting this passion or sincerity. In choosing to make plain his sexuality he makes himself his artwork.
